Galya Nikolova painting a portrait of Saint Nicholas. And we're near Christmas already. I prefer much more the original Nicholas than the current icon dressed in red and white. Well, I don't know. I like Santa Claus too, but the original human being is much more interesting. And you have captured all his goodness in his shape. I love his expression, and the colors you use, imitating the frescoes. Did you take this portrait from any temple in particular? It must be GREAT.
Dear Elio, today in Bulgaria is the day of St.Nicolas, regarding the orthodox church calendar. He is the saint of the sailors and the fishermen so today in Bulgaria everybody eats fish:). Santa Claus, well I like this guy too:) Since the name of my grandfather was Nicolas, I gave this icon to my grandma Maria who lives in a small town near Tarnovo.
I am very glad that you like the icon, I tried to make it more human because you know, somehow I think that the purpose of these icons is to become a bridge between us and heaven.
Благодаря,Димитрина,
Честит празник също на теб и твоите близки!
Thank you Alexandra, your opinion means much to me. Kindest regards!
You are so kind Annie. Thank you I already had a nice holiday, hope that yours was as pleasant and noisy as mine:)
Dear Jan, It is a great compliment. Because you are really very good at that. It is very rare, to see such live and spiritual faces as the ones you paint. Thank you!
I`ve been following your blog and I am also very impressed of your Icons. Like you I am very interested in Icons and medieval orthodox art. So we have a lot to talk about.
